Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

LIT Biohazard ("we", "us", "our") provides biohazard, trauma and commercial cleaning services across Kent & Essex. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data when you use this website or contact us directly.

You can contact us about anything in this policy at contact@litbiohazard.com or on 07380 890 762.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, including:

  • Contact details submitted through our contact form — name, email address, phone number, property address and details of your enquiry.
  • Details submitted through our Nominate a Neighbour form — your own contact details, information about the person or household you are nominating, and any photos you choose to upload of the property.
  • Any information you send us by email, phone or social media.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this site.

3. Cookies & Similar Technologies

This site does not set any tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. When you first visit, a small banner asks you to confirm this — choosing "Accept" or "Necessary Only" makes no practical difference today, since only strictly necessary storage is used either way. We use two small pieces of essential browser storage (not third-party cookies, and never shared with anyone):

  • lbCookieConsent — remembers your cookie banner choice, so you're not asked again on future visits. Kept until you clear your browser data.
  • lbPromoDismissed — on the homepage only, remembers if you've closed the Nominate a Neighbour prompt, so it doesn't reappear for the rest of that visit. Cleared automatically when you close your browser tab.

You can clear either at any time by clearing your browser's site data for litbiohazard.com. If we add analytics or marketing cookies in future, this section will be updated and you'll be asked for consent before they're set.

4. Nominating Someone Else

The Nominate a Neighbour form involves submitting personal information about someone other than yourself. By using this form, you confirm that you have a reasonable basis for believing the nomination is welcome and, wherever possible, that the person you're nominating is aware their details are being shared with us. We use nomination details solely to assess and, where appropriate, deliver support — never for marketing.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide quotes (legitimate interest / steps to enter a contract)
  • Deliver booked cleaning services, including any necessary liaison with housing associations or third parties you've asked us to work with (contract)
  • Assess and respond to Nominate a Neighbour submissions (legitimate interest)
  • Meet our legal, insurance and health & safety obligations (legal obligation)

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for marketing unless you separately opt in.

6. Who We Share It With

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this site and our business:

  • Netlify — hosts this website and processes form submissions on our behalf.
  • Google Workspace — provides our business email.

These providers may process data on servers outside the UK/EEA (e.g. the US), and do so under their own standard data protection safeguards. We do not share your information with any other third party except where required by law.

7. How Long We Keep It

We keep enquiry and nomination data for as long as needed to respond, deliver the related service, and meet any legal/insurance requirement — as a default, no longer than 24 months from your last contact with us, unless we're legally required to keep it longer (for example, financial records).

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to how we use your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for processing

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@litbiohazard.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 submitting on their own behalf.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services or the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
